Prudent steps can be taken to promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions by using the 80/20 rule to focus on the most polluting power plants, transportation modes and commercial/industrial companies (see the video below for a summary or read Clean Energy Strategy on Apple Books for more details).
This is can reduce global warming and improve public health, but clean energy jobs are good for the economy and provide high paying jobs and exports. Fossil fuel companies can also convert to clean energy to improve their profitability and diversify their portfolio.
Most importantly, the economic costs related to effects of global warming can be enormous (flooding, storms, fires, heat, disease, etc), so prudent measures should be taken.
