There are significant risks to future employment due to automation. Below are a few of the areas that are being affected;

1. Retail-online sales/automated check out
2. Service industry-teachers, trainers, etc
3. Distribution-warehouse automation
4. Manufacturing-Robotics/3D printing
5. Transportation-Driver-less cars
6. Hospitality-shared economy
7. Power distribution-Solar/Wind Power
8. Auto maintenance-Electric cars
9. Aviation-Drones/ePlanes
10. Finance-online Banking/investing
11. Healthcare-Telehealth/ehealth
12. Professionals-doctors, lawyers, engineers, accounting, etc

Historically, new industries create new jobs, but that may not keep up with the rapid pace of innovation in the next 10-20 years since it is estimated that 40% of the current workforce may become automated. This depends on the pace of AI development, regulation and public benefit/acceptance.

Innovation should be directed to areas that improve the standard of living (housing, transportation, energy, healthcare, Food) and we must ensure that the benefits are distributed fairly. The industrial revolution led to; shorter work weeks, social security, unemployment insurance, etc., but only after considerable upheaval. These benefits should continue to be expanded, so here’s a few suggestions;

1. Constitutional rights to Privacy and Intellectual Property must be respected.
2. AI safety laws should be adopted to ensure public safety
3. A professional should approve certain AI generated output
4. The unemployment situation should be considered before implementing large scale automation (ie can the economy handle automating the postal service?)
5. A 4 day work week may be needed if unemployment goes up significantly
6. The cost of basic services such as; food, healthcare, transportation, education and housing should continue to go down to make things more affordable
7. The Wealthy and Big Business should assume the tax burden if there are fewer workers
8. AI needs to be regulated to ensure it does not break the law.
9. Access to 5G Cell towers and Satellites should be supervised since they can be used as a weapon.
10. AI should not be able to use Mind Reading technology without express permission from the user
11. Individual campaign contributions should be limited to ensure the Government represents the people
